Accreditation

Gethsemane Baptist Christian School is not a regionally accredited school.  What does this mean?  While graduating from an accredited private school may make acceptance into another high school or college easier, it is not always a requirement.  Each individual school or district may set its own admissions policies.  Although some list accreditation as one of them, in most cases acceptance into those schools or colleges would still be granted after additional testing or acquiring a GED.  From our experience GBCS graduates have been able to gain acceptance into the colleges they pursue even if accreditation is initially an issue.  "University of California" ("UC") colleges do require a diploma from an accredited high school for incoming freshman.  However, for those transferring from a junior or community college, an accredited high school diploma is not required.  Parents are encouraged to check the admission policies of the colleges they are considering.
